Electives and Out Rotations

One month of the PGY1 year, two months of the PGY2 year, and two months of the PGY3 year are allocated for elective rotations. This time is to be arranged by the resident with the approval of their Faculty Advisor and the Director of Medical Education. Residents will be expected to continue their normal lecture call and continuity of care responsibilities during their electives unless they are on "out rotations." Requests for elective rotations must be submitted at least 60 days in advance.

Out rotations up to one month of out rotation time per year during the PGY2 and PGY3 years may be arranged to meet individual training needs of the resident. The Director of Medical Education must approve all requests for out rotation in advance. This out time may be utilized for certain required or for elective rotations.

During this out rotation the resident will be excused from their normal FPC duties including continuity clinic.
