Munson Hospice and Palliative
Care, the second-oldest hospice program in Michigan,
is a home-based program designed to assist the terminally ill
and their loved ones through the dying process.
Hospice offers help and support to the patient and family while
treating the person, not only the disease. Care is focused on
family needs and treatment revolves around comfort rather than
cure. Hospice care can take place in a variety of settings including
home, nursing home, assisted living, adult foster care, or the
Munson
Hospice House. Services are covered under Medicare, Medicaid,
and most private insurance plans.
Munson Hospice and Palliative care is a not-for-profit
organization committed to providing compassionate, end-of-life
care regardless of ability to pay. We rely on financial gifts,
and gifts of time and talent from our volunteers.

All professional staff are fully licensed and certified
in their fields and volunteers
receive specialized training.
Hospice services
are available to people with a life expectancy of six months or
less, if their illness runs its normal course. Anyone can make
a referral to hospice, including physicians, family members, clergy,
or health professionals. Physician care will continue while receiving
Hospice treatment. The patient may discontinue Hospice care at
any time and return to cure-oriented care.
Grief Support is available not only to hospice families, but to anyone in the community who is dealing with the death of a loved one or dear friend. All services are provided by qualified therapists. There is no charge for grief support services, however, donations are appreciated.
Hospice can be reached by calling 1-800-252-2065,
or a physician may write a Hospice order if the patient is hospitalized.
