Munson
Hospice House is open to individuals needing end-of-life care
who require a level of assistance not available in their own home
or other care settings. The Hospice House is a restful, eight-bedroom
home nestled on a wooded knoll overlooking Munson Medical Center.
Munson Hospice House was designed around the needs
of patients, with the intention of keeping family members connected
to one another physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Hospice providers believe that the end of life should be lived
fully and peacefully with the support of family and friends.
At
Hospice House, you will find compassionate nursing care, room
for private gatherings, a place for prayer, as well as support
and counseling. Hospice House residents receive considerate care
and attention 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The goal of hospice
is to provide all of the things that terminally ill patients need
most: freedom from pain, emotional and spiritual support, and
the ability to control the direction of their own care.
Medicare, Medicaid, and most third party insurance
pay for the cost of hospice care, which includes medications,
medical supplies, and equipment. The daily room and board charge
at Munson Hospice House is comparable to rates at other nursing
facilities. Room and board is usually not an insurance benefit.
Financial assistance may be available to families unable to pay
the full charge. Trained volunteers provide some of the care at
Hospice House in an effort to keep room rates reasonable.
The
mission of Hospice House goes beyond medical and residential care.
It is a place where the sanctity of life is treasured, where dignity
is preserved, and the needs of the patient and family are embraced.
The staff is dedicated to making the final phase of a person's
life as comfortable, joyful, and peaceful as possible.
