More than 3,500 cardiac procedures per year are performed at Munson Medical Center on an outpatient and inpatient basis to study the function and structure of the heart. During a catheterization, a cardiologist uses an angiogram (x-ray movie), pressure recordings, and other measurements to check for coronary artery disease (disease in the heart’s arteries), valvular heart disease (disease in the heart’s valves), congenital heart disease (heart disease one is born with), and other conditions.
Munson also provides Cardiac Catheterization services to Mercy Hospital Cadillac with a fully equipped mobile catheterization lab, providing access to tests close to home.
